Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma from the department of English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has appeared as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her contribution to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and the arms control. Mitchell traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions to attend summits and discuss matters such as and the Iran Contra controversy.
