Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she earned an Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her roles in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. She was born as the only child to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney had a family of four brothers. As a child, she dreamt of being a reporter for the court. After graduating from high school and moving into New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first film role was as a teen innocent on All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Delaney is well-known as an actress, appearing featured in a variety of TV movies, and dramas. Similar to her profession but her personal life hasn't been a success or happy one. The talented actress has struggled with alcoholism throughout her life and had two marriages that failed. Her custody was taken away from her son in 2005.
